Your next step will be to begin writing dispute letters to remove bad credit from your record. You will be using the
letter, because one of these items is not your account, the information is wrong or account is paid in full. Once the
bureau receives your request they will investigate the bad marks. Always send your letter via registered mail so
you can get a confirmation that it was delivered. The bureau has to respond in timely manner so this confirmation
is a legal proof you have against them. The Fair Credit Reporting Act is legislation that congress passed to
protect the consumer. This law says bureaus must investigate and remove inaccurate or unverifiable marks.
There are many credit repair companies who will charge you hundreds of dollar just to dispute a negative item. Be
very careful in using such companies. The Truth is everything a credit repair company can do for you legally, you
can do for yourself. With little inside knowledge and some action you can get your credit fixed.
You can learn how to remove bad credit using credit dispute letters. You just need to know what to write, how to
say it and who to send your request.

Replace the information with what applies to you, and you have a credit disputing
letter! Always be careful to not give away too much information about the account. It
is the credit reporting agency's responsibility to prove all information they issue on
people, not yours.
If you do not hear back within 30 days, the credit reporting agency may have violated
the law. To protect your rights, always send such correspondence with tracking
information and keep copies of your letters for your own records. If the item on your
credit report cannot be proved, it must be removed. This especially works well for
accounts that are old or where the lender has gone out of business.
